You've got a good life.
So why do you want to escape it sometimes?
You love your family. You've worked hard. You've built a life that looks pretty bloody good from the outside.
So why do you keep wondering if this is really it?
If that question has been quietly following you around, this is for you.

SOUND FAMILIAR?
When did your life become a list of things everyone else needs from you?
You've built a life. Made decisions. Taken on responsibilities. Been the dependable one, the capable one, the person who somehow always figures things out.
Maybe you're juggling work, caring for ageing parents, supporting family, helping friends or keeping everyone else's world turning.
Or maybe life is relatively calm these days, and you're wondering why you still feel so bloody restless.
Somewhere along the way, a question has started creeping in.
And the most frustrating part?
You can't necessarily explain what's wrong.
You just know something feels different.
And you're curious enough to find out why.
Maybe you've caught yourself...
Fantasising about disappearing for a weekend without having to explain yourself to anyone.
Wondering what you'd actually do if you had a whole day with absolutely no obligations.
Looking at the next ten or twenty years and thinking, surely there's something else?
Feeling guilty for wanting something different when, objectively, your life is pretty good.
Realising you can tell everyone else exactly what they need, but struggle to answer what you want.
Missing a version of yourself you can't quite put your finger on.
And the most frustrating part?
You can't necessarily explain what's wrong.
You just know something feels different.
And you're curious enough to find out why.
LET'S TALK ABOUT THAT RESTLESS FEELING.
Think about who you were ten or twenty years ago.
What mattered to you? What did you want? What did you imagine your life would look like?
Now think about everything that's happened since.
The careers. The relationships. The responsibilities. The compromises. The things you chose and the things that simply happened.
You've changed. Of course you have.
But how much of your life has changed with you?
Sometimes restlessness creeps in when the routines, roles and expectations we've lived with for years stop feeling quite right.
Maybe you've outgrown something.
Maybe there's something you've always wanted to try.
Maybe you've spent so long doing what's expected that you've stopped asking what you'd choose.
Or maybe you simply want a bit more fun, freedom or excitement in your life.
Here's a question worth sitting with:
If you could design the next ten years around the woman you are today, how different would they look?
You don't have to answer that right now.
But it's worth asking.
A QUESTION WORTH ASKING
You've changed.
Has your life changed with you?
If you could design the next ten years around the woman you are today, how different would they look?
You don't have to know the answer. But perhaps it's time to start asking.
A LITTLE LOOK INSIDE
Ten minutes. Three honest questions. And possibly a few uncomfortable answers.
If You Feel Restless, Start Here is a free, interactive Midrising Edition designed to help you explore that nagging feeling that something in your life needs to change.
Here's what happens inside.
01 / Check in with yourself
Before you start, take a moment to notice how you're actually feeling.
Not how you think you should feel. How you really feel.
02 / Ask yourself three questions
Work through three thought-provoking questions designed to help you explore where that restless feeling might be coming from.
You can put your thoughts into words, consider things you've pushed aside and give yourself permission to be completely honest.
03 / Try one small experiment
Take what you've noticed and turn it into one small thing you could try in your everyday life.
No enormous commitments. No pressure to reinvent yourself by Monday.
04 / Notice what shifted
At the end, check in with yourself again.
You might feel clearer. You might have more questions. You might simply have enjoyed ten minutes thinking about yourself for a change.
All perfectly valid.
No worksheets to print. No homework to submit. No perfect answers required.
Just ten minutes that belong entirely to you.
You don't need to know what you want next. That's why we're starting here.
SO, WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU?
You could walk away with...
01 / Check in with yourself
Start putting words to that vague feeling that something's missing, even when you can't explain why.
02 / A better understanding of what you want
Notice the things you've been craving, avoiding or quietly wishing were different.
03 / Permission to want something more
Wanting change doesn't mean you have to be unhappy with everything you've already got. You're allowed to be grateful and restless at the same time.
04 / Somewhere to start
One small experiment to explore what you've discovered, without committing to a dramatic life overhaul.
Ten minutes when nobody needs anything from you.
No expectations. No demands. No one else's priorities.
Just you, figuring out what you might want next.
THE WOMAN BEHIND MIDRISING
Hi, I'm Gill. I'm 50. And I'm still figuring some of this shit out too.
I've spent more than 25 years building a career, making decisions, solving problems and getting things done.
I've also reached that rather interesting stage of life where you start questioning things you once took for granted.
What do I actually want? What am I doing because I love it? And what am I doing because I've always done it?
A redundancy, a career rethink and starting my own businesses have given me plenty of opportunities to ask those questions myself.
And that's part of why I created Midrising.
A place for Gen X women to have the conversations we don't always get to have. About identity, ambition, relationships, change, and that nagging feeling there might be something more.
Through Midrising Conversations, our Editions and our practical tools, I'm exploring those questions right alongside you.
I don't have all the answers. I certainly don't expect you to.
But I reckon we're allowed to start asking better questions.
Welcome to Midrising. Midlife. No filter.
